Licences & attribution

Some of what you see on this site was made by other people, under licences that ask to be credited. This page is that credit, and it says plainly which parts are theirs and which are ours.

Ingredient icons

The small icons beside ingredients on our recipe pages come from two different sources.

OpenMoji — 67 icons

Icons by OpenMoji(version 17.0.0), used under theCreative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 4.0 International licence(CC BY-SA 4.0). Changes made: the original SVG artwork was rasterised to 96×96 PNG. Nothing else was altered — no recolouring, cropping or recomposition. These rasterised versions are themselves offered under CC BY-SA 4.0, and the full licence text is servedalongside the icons.

Generated by us — 133 icons

The remaining ingredient icons were generated for TwentyGrams with an AI image model. They are our own work and carry no third-party licence. We mention them here anyway, because a credits page that quietly attributed our own artwork to OpenMoji would misrepresent somebody else’s project.

A per-file breakdown is served at/icons/ingredients/ATTRIBUTION.md.

Equipment icons

The small icons beside equipment on our recipe pages come from two sources. Most are OpenMoji — 11 icons, same source and version (17.0.0) as the ingredient icons above, used under the sameCC BY-SA 4.0 licence, changes made: rasterised to 36×36 and 72×72 PNG, nothing else altered. Several real equipment terms have no exact OpenMoji glyph and are reused for the closest available concept (a frying-pan icon for a skillet, a pot icon for a saucepan, and so on).

Three more — oven, blender, and a generic kitchen icon used as a last-resort fallback so every equipment row has an icon — areMaterial Symbols by Google, used under theApache License 2.0,changes made: a fill="currentColor"attribute was added so the icon takes its colour from our page instead of shipping black; the path artwork itself is unchanged. The full per-icon breakdown, including which terms get the generic fallback, is at/icons/equipment/ATTRIBUTION.md.

Nutrition data

Nutrition figures are computed from theUSDA FoodData Central andOpen Food Facts datasets. That is a data-provenance question rather than a licensing one, and it has its own page:where our numbers come from.
